6 MONTHS TO 1 YEAR: If your honeymoon is a high travel time, select your destination. Decide on a location. Book airline and hotel, make deposit.
3 TO 6 MONTHS: Apply for a passport or renew the one you have. Reserve a rental car. Obtain vaccinations or medical clearance if needed. Consider travel insurance or travel protection plans. Make sure you have the proper travel documents.
2 TO 4 MONTHS: Write a list of items to pack. Refill prescriptions. Purchase film, batteries, travel-size toiletries, and a hand-held translator. Book excursions, show tickets, boat tours. Make arrangements for pets/house sitting. Distribute your travel itinerary to family. Make a list of valuables, including credit- card numbers. Get currency or travelers checks. Reconfirm reservations.
2 TO 1 WEEKS BEFORE: Go over your packing list, and get anything else you need. Assemble all important documents. Have clothes altered, laundered or dry cleaned. Suspend mail, arrange transportation from wedding to airport.
1 TO 3 DAYS BEFORE:Clean out the refrigerator. Empty the garbage. Set light timers. Mow the lawn. Buy flight items, such as magazines, books, gum, etc. Pack your luggage and carry-on. Set up automatic reply on your e-mail and change the message on your voice mail. Check weather.
