Perfect Couple 2009: Brandon McCann & Renee Kulinski

2009-01-19

January 13, 2009 02:06 PM - Mississauga's newly crowned "perfect couple" don't believe there is such a thing.

"We really don't believe there's a perfect couple per se," said Brandon McCann, 24, who'll marry his high school sweetheart, Renee Kulinski, 25, in August. "We feel that we're pretty well-matched, we're pretty well-suited for one another, we've enjoyed the eight years that we've spent together and we've never been happier."

McCann, a market analyst, and Kulinski, a supervisor of active living and fitness, were engaged in December. On Sunday, they were crowned the Perfect Couple as part of www.perfectcouple.ca & The Perfect Wedding Show held at the Living Arts Centre.

The couple, who started dating nearly eight years ago as students at Lorne Park Secondary School, squared off against 15 other pairings in an online voting contest.

What set McCann and Kulinski apart was their networking skills. They lined up all their friends and family to vote for them, and they, in turn, passed the word on to their own friends.

They used social networking sites such as Facebook to help spread the word.

Kulinski said she was a bit nervous just before the winning couple was announced.

"My knees were shaking, my heart was pounding and I just couldn't believe it. We didn't know where we stood in the rankings with everyone, so really it was a huge surprise," she said.

The winners will have their honeymoon paid for (a $5,000 all inclusive vacation package) by Able Travel American Express Travel Services, www.perfectcouple.ca prize sponsor.

The pair also have some advice for a strong relationship.

"The foundation of a good relationship is communication," said Kulinski. "When I was in England for six months studying abroad, we spoke every day and we still remained super close.

"And definitely compromise, but not too much compromise," she continued. "Definitely trust in your relationship. And have fun."
