Brett and I met on January 22, 2006 through mutual friends. Our first date was at a Tim Horton's and then took a walk by the lake promenade in the freezing cold. However, we kept warm by sharing our stories, laughing, and giggling. We can both admit that it was love at first site. I found out some bad news about my grandmother becoming ill shortly after we met, but Brett was there for me the whole way through. I can remember the day that Brett told me that he loved me like it was yesterday. I was over at his house, and on my way out to the car, which he walked me too, I opened the door, gave a kiss goodbye, and then Brett caught me off guard and said “I love you”. This was just after 3 weeks of dating. I told him that I loved him as well. I had to work the next day really early; however, I was wide awake and could not even think about going to bed. So I called my best friend, and went to see her and then talked about Brett for hours.
Brett and I are both sport fanatics. Brett loves playing hockey, and now I have started to play with Brett's help. We also play on a slo-pitch baseball team together with our friends. I play fastball competitively, so I have taught Brett how to play. We both share the same passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs, even when they loose. We both took on the sport of snowboarding and even went to Mont Tremblant in Quebec back in February 2009. This is where Brett chose to propose to me, which reminded me of our first date because it was out in the cold looking over a lake. We are set to get married on July 17, 2010. We have been counting down the days since we set the date.
We both went to the same school, and worked in the athletic department together. I am currently a full time student in the social work field, who works 2 part time jobs to afford the costs of the wedding and pay the bills. Brett has graduated from college in Recreation and Leisure but currently is not working because his contract ended and has been finding it difficult to find a new job. Brett and I both like to give back to our community. Brett has worked several positions within the City of Mississauga, working with children, the works department and for recreations and parks. I currently work in a group home for Community Living Mississauga where I support individuals with developmental disabilities.
My parents have been very supportive and have allowed us to live together in their home until we can save enough money to get our own place after the wedding. Brett and I are on a tight budget for the wedding, but would love to have our dream honeymoon come true. Over the past 3 and half years of dating, we have grown as a couple. We have lived together for the past 2 and half years, and have shared many moments of laughter, tears, and happiness.
It is in our hope and prayers that you will choose Brett and I to be one of the contestants for Mississauga's perfect couple and allow us to compete for the grand prize of a $5000.00 vacation package. We are both born and raised in Mississauga and truly believe that our romance has been shaped by our city. We don't believe that we are perfect, because no one is perfect, but we are pretty close to it!
Thank you for listening to our story, but it is up to you to decide if we are the perfect couple.
