 | Tracy & Christopher
| | Origins: We're a by-products of sorts, spawned from the internet. We were both in high school when the internet went mainstream. It was new, exciting and full of potential. With both of us being a bit on the adventurous side it seemed fitting that we met each other through a match making website. Now, dating sites weren't quite what they are today so both of us, I think, battled with the stigma attached to finding someone online. Neither one of us really knew what to expect from this new, virtual roving ground, but we both tried it out. With the push of the smile icon and a catchy handle (who could resist Editor's Pick?), I got the proverbial ball rolling. We chatted ... a lot ... until wee hours of the morning. Though we would be zombies the rest of the day and eventually started shunning natural light, the late night laughs and conversation were well worth it. I know Tracy had her hesitations. She didn't think I was 5'11" (which I am). She didn't think I was into playing sports (which I am). She didn't think I was into new rock music (which I am). Come to think of it, how we ended up together is a bit of a mystery. This is why I believe my handle was key. Good ol' Editor's Pick!
It hasn't all been sunshine and lollypops though. It's been 8+ years we've been working at it, but when someone is as great as her, you'll work your hands to the bone to make it work. We have 4 animals we call the kids - cats Mooze and Gumba, and turtles Skeeter and WAYD, WAYD being an acronym for What Are You Doing. In the years following our turtle acquisition Tracy has moved up in her company and I finally got the career I've been wanting. Everything is coming together for us, piece by piece, and we're proud to say we've done it together and there's no greater satisfaction than knowing we did it, her and I. Well, we haven't done it all. We're still diggin' deep for our wedding and honeymoon ... all in the same year we bought a house, got engaged and both celebrated the big 3-0!
Belle (a.k.a. Tracy Walker): Belle is the name I gave to her when we first started chatting online. It was actually Bella, as in ciao Bella, but Belle works a lot better in person. I called her that because I thought she was pretty. I still do ... think she's pretty that is. It's also a small reference to Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Both Belles are adventurous, love life and want more than the daily grind. They're both passionate and caring; respectful and humble; independent and forever giving of themselves.
Non-Disney Belle was born in the 'Shwa, lived in Alliston, and spent a good portion of her life in Brampton. Her education was up in Kingston. She managed to acquire a business diploma which is great considering she's the operations manager of a small business here in Mississauga. She works in multimedia and could better explain it than I can, but do you really need to know specifics? She loves what she does, she's great at what she does and she's puttin' her education to work. She's forever moving forward and drags me along for the ride, sometimes kicking and screaming. She's my motivation to be a better man and I wouldn't be where I am today without her.
Christopher (a.k.a. Christopher Collier): I grew up bouncing between Etobicoke and Mississauga the better portion of my life ... okay, so all my life, but I've settled down in the heart of Meadowvale with my obviously better half. I'm a graduate from York University with a political science degree. I love politics from the municipal level to the federal level. I even gave a run at becoming a councillor for Mississauga in 2003. Belle's not fond of politics, but she knows how much it meant to me and we spent an entire campaign together, a two-person team, canvassing the streets of ward 5. My love of politics extends into my professional life as I currently work for the federal government within the Canada Border Services Agency. I can't get into details about my work because it's considered secret level type stuff. Ask my future wife - it drives her nuts. There have never been so many one-sided conversations about how work went today. I ask; she talks; I listen. She asks; I stare blankly; end of conversation. I'm sure this will lead to some form of communication counselling in the future, but it works for now and she's happy that I'm happy at work.
We're glad to be entering Mississauga's perfect couple contest. Not only can it be a fun experience, but it could help us absorb the financial beatdown we're takin' doing everything in a 12 month span. If things go well maybe we'll go from Mississauga's perfect couple to Mississauga's first couple, though mayoral dreams might be getting a little ahead of myself. |

Today's Question: What would you like to say to the people that voted for you? Tracy & Christopher's Answer: We would like to thank everyone for the time they took out of their day and the consideration that determined, in their eyes, that we are Mississauga’s Perfect Couple. We don’t know if they responded to our newspaper ads, our flyers in doors and mailboxes, Facebook group invites or online voting rallies. Ultimately we just want to thank the people that voted for us. Every bit is encouraging to us, win or lose, thanks to all who participated and made this another great adventure for us. We love that there’s never a dull moment!
As much as the other conestants probably didn't throw a vote our way... we do want to wish EVERY ONE of the participants the best of luck and many great adventures in your lives together! Previous questions & answers
