| | It was a dark and stormy night, when all of a sudden, my heart stopped. It was him, just across the way, the man of my dreams. It seemed a heavenly glow radiated from him, and I knew that from here on in, my life would be different.
Pfft! Who are we kidding? It wasn't love at first sight- this is the real world after all! I met Alex on my first day at work, and by the very next day, had already forgotten his name. In fact, if it wasn't for that show months later when a mutual friend of ours was performing, who knows how things would have turned out. That night, we went from barely having had a single conversation to talking until 3 in the morning.
It seemed that almost instantly we became best friends. We would hang out every night, regardless of how much work we both had to do. Alex would sit with me at Tim Horton's until the wee hours of the morning to cut out shapes for my job as a teacher- and we would have such a blast!
But I never quite thought that I could date him. See, I was at a stage in my life when I was convinced that I wanted nothing to do with relationships. Alex asked me out a first time, to which I replied NO. The second, third, and forth tries got the same response. But by the third month of our nothing-but-friends relationship, I would think about him everyday, and couldn't stand going to bed without his goodnight. Meeting his little sister was just icing on the cake. The way he cared for her screamed FATHER FIGURE- and I was sold! Finally, roles were reversed and I was aching to ask HIM out. Of course his response was yes. :)
We never doubted our relationship, and after only eleven months we were engaged. There has not been a single day that we have not seen each other. It seems as though we are inseparable, and we are still the very best of friends. Alex makes me smile everyday, and I am so thankful that he never gave up on me during the initial stages of our relationship. I'm not too sure that we are the perfect couple; all I know is that we are perfect for each other.
But, are Caroline and Alex MISSISSAUGA'S perfect couple?
Well, we have both lived in Mississauga since the day we were born. I am the principal harpist with the Mississauga Symphony, and I work in a Mississauga Elementary School. Alex volunteers for the Mississauga Central Library delivering books to patrons who may be unable to get them themselves. But you decide! |
